Apple ha finalmente rilasciato iOS 8.1
Molti utenti iPhone aspettavano con ansia questo primo grande aggiornamento, soprattutto perché fino ad iOS 8.0.2 la stabilità dell’OS mobile di casa Apple non era granché. iOS 8.1 porta con sé un bel paio di caratteristiche importanti, come ad esempio: il tanto desiderato Apple Pay, il sistema di pagamento tramite Touch ID e chip NFC disponibile per il momento solo negli USA; la possibilità di rispondere agli SMS da OSX Yosemite e la connessione ad un iPhone-hotspot in automatico qualora la connessione Wi-Fi non fosse disponibile o avesse problemi. Con iOS 8.1 è stato finalmente reso disponibile iCloud Photo Library Beta a tutti gli utenti iOS, permettendo di caricare in automatico le proprie foto e di accedervi da tutti i propri dispositivi ed in futuro anche da icloud.com. Sempre riguardo le foto, con iOS 8.1 Apple ha ripristinato il rullino fotografico, dopo tante lamentele da parte degli utenti, sostituito da un’altra funzionalità in iOS 8.0.

Fixes an issue that was preventing the use of OS X Caching Server for iOS updates
Come sempre l’aggiornamento è disponibile sia via OTA ,sia tramite iTunes ed è compatibile con tutti gli iPhone che supportano iOS 8, vale a dire da iPhone 4S in poi. Dai primissimi minuti di utilizzo di iOS 8.1 sembra che effettivamente Apple abbia risolto i numerosi bug che affliggevano iOS fino alla release precedente, facendo registrare un numero di feedback negativo insolito per uno dei sistemi mobile più fluidi ed in generale, apprezzati dal 2007 ad oggi. Sicuramente una delle funzionalità più apprezzate dagli utenti Apple sarà il pieno supporto a Continuity, soprattutto con la possibilità di rispondere al telefono e agli SMS direttamente da OSX Yosemite.
